my welcome thread
https://www.mini-forum.de/showthread.php…-I-would-say-Himy build thread on the UK Mini Forum
http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/topic/2…e-race-car-out/so some history. been around Minis for a long time done all the typical UK mods IE big engines etc as the UK MOT is nothing like the TUV (sorry on a Swedish keyboard)
a few cars that i have built for my self.
and the current one on its first outing.
i am also responsible for this.
here it is setting a class record that it held for about 12 years.

i then came to Germany in 2012 and brought the Mini with me. Last year i found a place where i can do some work on it.
I am rebuilding it to UK specs as i plan to race it back there as i have some scores to settle. I do plan on doing some Bergrennen here but more for fun.

Hi,
CDS means a standard carbon steel and a specification like ST52-3. To add a harness bar you will need something like 38x2.5 or bigger. The other possibility is a so called airplane steel. If your cage is manufactured from T45 you will need a CROMO4 tube.
Best regards
Yes Cold Drawn Steel tube as opposed to ERW tube. Which is welded tube. Not suitable for cage material.
Your sizing is OK though but as the tubs are 42mm with a 50mm main hoop I am looking fir upto 42mm with a 2mm wall but was planing on a 38mm with a 2.5mm wall. The first place I have tried here had 40mm with a 3mm wall which is a bit thicker than I want.I can get what I want from the supplier back in the UK. that will be weeks away.
Cheers for the help so far.

Hi Nick,
CDS tube is called in Germany "nahtlos gezogenes Präzisionsstahlrohr"
Hope this helps
Cheers
Rüdiger
Now I see the words I can see it but I would never ever have got there. Thank you very much.

Guys I need a little help I need to get some CDS tubing (cold drawn seamless) to add a harness bar to my cage. Now I could wait till I am back in the UK get some or I can ask a metal shop here. But I want to make sure I ask for the correct stuff.
Any help advise or links (not google translate as it can't manage with this
) will be much appreciated.
Nick

Cheers Chris,Almost right. I went form GB to Sweden and them here. Never got round to doing anything on the car there.
Hopefully for salalom and Hillclimbs. Going to be interesting as it is being rebuilt in regards to the UK classes which might cause me the odd problem here. It is already too light!
