• Hey—to figure that out, the first step is to determine exactly where the oil is coming from so we can tell you how to fix the leak. At the rear, it could very well be at the point where the gear selector enters the transmission; that seal is prone to leaking, and you’ll often find a drip hanging there. At the front, it could be any number of things. To pinpoint the source, I would recommend giving the engine a thorough cleaning. There are some excellent cold cleaners available from various manufacturers for this purpose. That way, you’ll be able to observe much more clearly exactly where the oil is originating.
